Hello,
Thinking of a list of topics which have to be included in DDI 3, I would
like to mention two issues, which were not much discussed up to now.
1. Classification schemes to describe social science
variables/classifications
2. Means to describe the formal logic of constructed variables.
See attached document.
For the discussion in Edinburgh with other people I think Reto’s diagram
(2005-03-21) of cross-national and diachronic datasets is a good
starting point, perhaps we should have some A3 printouts (sorry, we have
no such printer at ZUMA).
I would like to mention a recent discussion on the SRG, which could be
of interest for this group, see the four emails "Comparative Data
Direction", starting at:
http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/pipermail/ddi-srg/2005-May/000774.html
Sorry, probably I will have no time at next Tuesday's conference call.
I'm looking forward to the discussion in Edinburgh.
Achim
