Hello to everybody on the list,

I'm a new member of this working group. I'm working at ZUMA (Centre for
Survey Research and Methodology) in Mannheim, Germany.

Here are my answers to the three questions. In an additional email I
make a more detailed proposal for a structure for collections of surveys.

1. Which comparative studies you are currently working with are supposed
to be documented with DDI?

German Microcensus as scientific use file

Description:
The microcensus is the official representative statistics of the
population and the labour market, involving every year 1% of all
households in Germany (370,000 households / 820,000 persons).

MISSY (Microdata Information System, in development, in German)

2. Which topics do you want to be integrated in the DDI-standard?
See proposal in separate email.

3. Do we want an enhanced DTD or could we think of a meta-DTD, which
works as a kind of "parantheses" for single XML-documents of a study
group or family? (In German something can be a parantheses for
subordinate things, meaning that it holds them together. I could not
think of an English equivalent for this phrase.)

Enhanced XML Schema with a description level for collections on top of
current DDI structure. See proposal in separate email.

Best regards, Achim
