Fortunately Mary is more resourceful than I am and was able to locate the
explaination page that went with the schema I sent to you yesterday.

The pertinent parts are those for section 3 describing grids and basic
layer sheets. It was designed to be a very "vanilla" way of describing 2
and 3 dimensional storage formats. If you have specific questions I'll try
to dig in my memory for reasonable answers.
