About DDI-users	English (USA)
The Data Documentation Initiative (DDI) is an effort to establish an international criterion and methodology for the content, presentation, transport, and preservation of "metadata" about datasets in the social and behavioral sciences. Metadata (data about data) constitute the information that enables the effective, efficient, and accurate use of those datasets. The purpose of this list is to allow people who are interested in the development and implementation of the DDI specification to communicate with each other and with the committee that is guiding the development of the specification. The current product of the DDI Committee's work is an eXtensible Markup Language (XML) Document Type Definition (DTD) that expresses the current DDI model. Using DDI-users
To post a message to all the list members, send email to ddi-users@icpsr.umich.edu. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to DDI-users
Subscribe to DDI-users by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription.
