Biography

Paul Kellstedt is Associate Professor of Political Science at Texas A&M University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1996. He is the author of The Mass Media and the Dynamics of American Racial Attitudes (Cambridge University Press, 2003), which won a 2004 Goldsmith Book Prize, given by the Shorenstein Center at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government to the book "that best fulfills the objective of improving government through an examination of the intersection between press, politics, and public policy." He is also co-author, with Guy D. Whitten, of The Fundamentals of Political Science Research (Cambridge University Press, second edition 2013), a textbook for undergraduate research methods courses. He is also co-editor (with Whitten) of a new book series with Cambridge University Press entitled Methodological Tools in the Social Sciences. He has authored and co-authored articles in the American Journal of Political Science, Political Analysis, and numerous other journals. He serves as Associate Editor for the journal Political Science Research and Methods.

Professor Kellstedt's fields of expertise are public opinion and methodology. He has held visiting appointments as a Fellow at the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics, and Public Policy in the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University; as an Academic Visitor at Nuffield College, University of Oxford; and as a Visiting Professor at Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE), in Mexico City.
