Dirgha Ghimire is an associate research scientist in the Population Studies Center, the Institute of Social Research,the University of Michigan. He is also the Director of the Institute for Social and Environmental Research, Chitwan, Nepal. He studies the relationships among social contexts, social change, family organization, marriage arrangements, and first birth timing in Nepal. His research also includes the inter-relationship between population and environmental dynamics. He is a PI on the 'Developmental Idealism and Family and Population Dynamics in Nepal' research project as well as his NIH funded project 'Marital Processes, Husband-Wife Relationships, and Fertility Behaviors'.
