Brief Biography

Mary Vardigan holds the position of Archivist and directs the ICPSR Collection Delivery Unit, which involves oversight of activities in the areas of Metadata, Publications, Web Site Development, User Support, and Membership Development. She also serves as Director of the Data Documentation Initiative (DDI), an effort to establish a metadata standard for the social and behavioral sciences. She is involved in other international projects related to data stewardship, including the Data Seal of Approval, the Research Data Alliance, and various efforts to promote data citation.
