About the Artwork

In 2007, SAMHDA commissioned Karen Moeller Design external link to produce artwork for the SAMHDA exhibit booth and a new logo.

The SAMHDA illustration is a metaphor for the products and services we provide. The skyscraper made of library card catalogs represents the vast amount of information available from SAMHDA. A diverse group of people is easily accessing, in various ways, the information the tower holds. The illumination emanating from open drawers represents the knowledge users gain from our data. A ladder from the building is incorporated into the SAMHDA logo.

SAMHDA's new image and logo also appear on SAMHDA's conference exhibit booth (below), on postcards, and on posters (PDF 3.2M).

The design won a 2008 Gold ADDY Award from the Ann Arbor Advertising Club of the American Advertising Federation (AAF), and a Silver ADDY Award in the district competition. The AAF recognizes the best work in the industry.
