Demographic information such as gender, race, ethnicity, education, and employment status, among others, are included in the data. Substances reported in TEDS-A include alcohol, cocaine and crack, marijuana and hashish, heroin, nonprescription methadone, other opiates and synthetics, stimulants, tranquilizers, sedatives, and over-the-counter medications, among others. A sister data system, called TEDS-D, records discharges from treatment facilities.
