The N-SSATS is an annual point prevalence survey that is designed to collect information from public and private facilities that provide substance abuse treatment in the United States. N-SSATS data include information on treatment services and modalities, facility operations and ownership, accreditation, and client counts. The geographic data included in N-SSATS are Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) state and county codes, metropolitan statistical area (MSA), core-based statistical area (CBSA), census region, and census division. The N-SSATS is produced by SAMHSA’s Behavioral Health Services Information System.
