New restricted-use NSDUH data allows for four-year estimates

The National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH): 4-Year R-DAS (2002 to 2005 and 2006 to 2009) data are now available for online analysis using the Restricted-use Data Analysis System (R-DAS). This restricted-use NSDUH data file produces combined four-year estimates for 2002-2005 and 2006-2009. Variables available include:

  • State codes to allow for state-level analyses;
  • Detailed race/ethnicity;
  • Country of birth; and
  • Initiation of substance use (age of first use).

The NSDUH: 4-Year R-DAS (2002 to 2005 and 2006 to 2009) file is the second data file available on the recently launched R-DAS. more...

The first file, the NSDUH: 8-Year R-DAS (2002 to 2009), allows for the creation of estimates based on a combined 8 years of data. In the upcoming months, SAMHSA is planning to release a restricted-use NSDUH file that will allow for the creation of two-year estimates (2002-2003, 2004-2005, 2006-2007, 2008-2009.
