Census of Population and Housing, 1980 [United States]: P.L. 94-171 Population Counts: 1978 Richmond Dress Rehearsal (ICPSR 7810)
Principal Investigator(s): United States Department of Commerce. Bureau of the Census
This data collection is a test version of the Census Bureau data file format for the 1980 P.L. 94-171 Population Counts and is based on data from the 1978 Dress Rehearsal Census of Richmond, Virginia, and the adjacent Chesterfield and Henrico counties. It follows the format and technical conventions that were planned for use with the 1980 Census data at the beginning of 1981. Population counts are given for American Indians, Eskimos, Aleuts, Asians, Pacific Islanders, and other races and ethnic groups, including those of Spanish origin.

Scope of Study
Universe: All persons and housing units in Richmond City, Henrico County, and Chesterfield County, Virginia, in 1978.
Data Types: aggregate data, census/enumeration data, survey data
Data Collection Notes:
Users should note that there are analytical limitations to the use of the dress rehearsal data. One type of analytical limitation of the data is geographic. A second limitation results from changes in the questionnaire between the Richmond Dress Rehearsal and the 1980 Census. Users interested in all changes should consult the section on questionnaire changes in the CENSUS OF POPULATION AND HOUSING, 1980: SUMMARY TAPE FILE 1: 1978 RICHMOND DRESS REHEARSAL TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION (ICPSR 7781).
Sample: All members of the family and unrelated individuals residing in the same housing unit.
