V940008: 94PO: PRIMARY AREA CODE

PRIMARY AREA

Notes: For Panel respondents who moved since the 1992 Pre-election study, the primary area corresponding to their original sampling address was coded here. The first digit of the Primary Area Code (4 or 5) is meaningless to the user. Its purpose is to allow the Sampling office to track the history of segments as they become active. In the code below, the first digit has been replaced by a "dot" to avoid double listing of the same Primary Area. .01 New York, NY .02 Los Angeles, CA .03 Chicago, IL .04 Philadelphia, PA .05 Detroit, MI .06 San Francisco, CA .07 Washington, DC-MD-VA .08 Dallas-Ft Worth, TX .09 Houston, TX .10 Boston, MA .11 Nassau-Suffolk, NY .12 St Louis, MO-IL .13 Pittsburgh, PA .14 Baltimore, MD .15 Minneapolis, MN-WI .16 Atlanta, GA .17 Buffalo, NY .18 Newark, NJ .21 New Haven, CT .23 Atlantic City, NJ .24 Manchester, NH .26 Milwaukee, WI .27 Dayton, OH .28 Kansas City, MO-KS .29 Des Moines, IA .31 Grand Rapids, MI .32 Ft Wayne, IN .33 Steubenville, OH-WV .34 Saginaw, MI .36 Birmingham, AL .39 Columbus, GA-AL .40 Miami, FL .42 Jacksonville, FL .43 Lakeland, FL .44 McAllen, TX .45 Waco, TX .47 Wheeling, WV-OH .49 Knoxville, TN .50 Richmond, VA .53 Seattle, WA .55 Denver, CO .56 Anaheim, CA .57 Riverside, CA .58 Fresno, CA .59 Eugene, OR .60 Phoenix, AZ .63 Schuyler Co, NY .64 Gardner, MA .65 Sanilac Co, MI .66 Decatur Co, IN .68 Saline Co, NE .70 Mower Co, MN .73 Bulloch Co, GA .74 Sabine Parish, LA .76 Hale Co, TX .77 Ashley Co, AR .78 Bedford Co, TN .80 Montgomery Co, VA .81 Robeson Co, NC .82 El Dorado Co, CA .84 Carbon Co, WY
