Description

The Demographic and Cultural Information Interview (used in Wave 1) and Demographic Update (used in Waves 2 and 3) were designed to obtain basic demographic information such as education and marital status. They also obtained information relevant to race/ethnicity and family acculturation. More detailed information was obtained in the first year of data collection, with updated information included in subsequent years. Information on income and employment was included within the Demographic Update. The Demographic Update also included sections regarding welfare status and material hardship.
