The following variable, YTHBGHT, was created by examination of various sources that youth were asked about for buying cigarettes: vending machines (CIGVEND), through the mail (CIGMAIL), store where you take cigarettes to the counter (CIGCKOUT), store where clerk hands you the cigarettes (CIGCLERK), internet (CIGINET), supermarket (CIGSMKT), drug store (CIGDSTO), convenience store (CIGCONV), and from another individual (CIGINDIV).
