CIGBUMM: YOUTH GOT CIGARETTES BY BUMMING THEM IN PAST MON

NOTE: The following variables, CIGBUMM, CIGTAKE, CIGSTEAL, CIGPUFF, and CIGROLL, were created by examination of the source variables containing information on the non-purchase methods of getting cigarettes. The non-purchase methods are bumming them (YECGBUMM), taking them from someone without asking (YECGTAKE), taking them from a store without paying (YECGSTEL), taking puffs from someone else's cigarettes (YECGPUFF), rolling their own cigarettes (YECGROLL), or some other way specified by the youth (YECGSOW and YECGOTS2). A positive response was assigned to each of these 5 variables only if the youth indicated that specific non-purchase method of getting cigarettes (YECGXXXX=1,3) and did not specify a purchase method (having a friend or relative buy them, bought them from an unknown location or source, or someone other than friend or relative bought them) for getting cigarettes in the other specify variables (YECGSOW NE 1 and YECGOTS2 NE 7,17). A value of zero was assigned if the youth reported both a non-purchase and purchase method for getting cigarettes(YECGXXXX=1,3 & YECGOTS2=7,17), never used cigarettes in the past month (YECGXXXX=91,93), or did not give a positive response for any of the source variables (YECGXXXX=6,85,94,97, 98,99).
