|Title||Drug Enforcement in Public Housing: Signs of Success in Denver|
Annan, Sampson O.
Skogan, Wesley G.
|Abstract||Narcotics Enforcement in Public Housing (NEPHU) was established in 1989, operated by the Denver Police Department, and funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance. NEPHU had exclusive responsibility for law enforcement in the 10 major public housing developments and scatter-site housing administered by the Denver Housing Authority. The main objective was to reduce the availability of drugs in these areas. This report describes the historic background of the creation of NEPHU, the scientific approach to evaluating the program, the evaluation results, and recommendations for future evaluation. The evaluation findings indicated that the program achieved a significant measure of success. source|
