Summary: The Mortality Detail File: External Cause Extract is a special subset of data prepared from the MORTALITY DETAIL FILES, 1968-1991 (ICPSR 7632). Due to changes in Cause of Death definitions incorporated in the INTERNATIONAL CLASSIFICATION OF DISEASES, NINTH REVISION (ICD-9), the 1968-1978 data files differ slightly from the 1979-1980 data files.
