This data collection was compiled from the 1860 Decennial Census. Data are presented for types of occupations and number of people employed in those occupations for the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Occupational data for the following territories are also included: Colorado, Dakota, Nevada, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah, Washington, and the District of Columbia.
