Scope of Study
Summary: This survey was conducted following the New York City subway shooting incident involving Bernhard Goetz. Respondents were asked if they were regular subway riders, if they had ever been mugged, if they had heard anything about the case so far, and if they approved or disapproved of the shooter's actions and his being charged with attempted murder. They also were asked to indicate whether they agreed with several statements relating to the incident and to handguns, including the necessity for people to arm themselves for their own protection.
