The total number of business establishments, mid-March employment figures, and first-quarter and annual payrolls are supplied in this collection at the county, state, and national levels. Also provided are data on the number of establishments by employment-size class.

  1. The United States Summary data are contained in one file. The state-level data are contained in two files. The county data are contained in nine files, with each file corresponding to a Census Division. There is one file containing Standard Industrial Classification codes.

All business establishments in the 50 states and the District of Columbia with one or more paid employees, excluding agriculture production, railroad, government, and household employment.
