Scope of Study
Summary: This file contains national-level data concerning female/male differentials over a range of demographic and socioeconomic variables for each of 120 developing countries. Breakdowns by age and urban/rural residence are frequently included. Data were drawn primarily from censuses and reliable surveys, and constitute the most recently available information at the time of collection. The 120 countries included in the file are all recipients of Agency for International Development aid. There are data for 19 countries from Asia/Pacific, 21 from Latin America/Caribbean, 41 from Sub-Saharan Africa, 15 from the Near East/North Africa, two from North America, 21 from Europe, and the Soviet Union.
