Universe:   Heads or co-heads of households residing in year-round housing units located in the Detroit Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area in April-August 1976.

Data Types:   survey data

Sample:   Two-stage probability sample of housing units, plus a supplemental probability sample of housing units occupied by Blacks and located within Detroit census tracts having at least 15-percent Black-occupied households in 1970. A total of 1,503 sample housing units were drawn and 1,134 interviews obtained, representing an overall response rate of 75.4 percent.
