Geographic Coverage: Connecticut, New Haven, United States
Time Period:
- 1959
Universe: Registered voters of New Haven, Connecticut.
Data Types: survey data
Methodology
Sample: Proportional random sampling. The sample was drawn from the New Haven voter registration lists used in the 1958 election, as revised through June 1959. From each ward list, respondents were drawn at regular intervals after a random start, in proportion to the total sample as that ward bore to the total number of registered voters in the city, thus intentionally underrepresenting adult nonvoters. In cases where the selected people were deceased or no longer residents of New Haven, replacements were chosen from the same ward.

In addition to these procedures, ICPSR performed the following processing steps for this data collection:
- Standardized missing values.
- Checked for undocumented or out-of-range codes.
