Principal Investigator(s): Educational Testing Service
This study is a large-scale survey of American college and university trustees, carried out in early 1968. Questions were asked about the respondents' backgrounds, their previous relationship to the schools, and their attitudes toward various educational policies. The respondents' activities as trustees, as well as their conceptions of the role of trustee and their political and social views, were also assessed.
One or more data files in this study are set up in a non-standard format, such as card image format. Users may need help converting these files before they can be used for analysis.

Scope of Study
Universe: College and university trustees in the United States.
Data Types: survey data
Sample: Over 10,000 trustees were initially contacted, representing the voting governing board members of 536 colleges and universities in the United States. Over 5,000 responded, for a return rate of 52.5 percent.
Extent of Processing: ICPSR data undergo a confidentiality review and are altered when necessary to limit the risk of disclosure. ICPSR also routinely creates ready-to-go data files along with setups in the major statistical software formats as well as standard codebooks to accompany the data. In addition to these procedures, ICPSR performed the following processing steps for this data collection:
- Created variable labels and/or value labels.
Original ICPSR Release: 1984-05-03
- 2009-07-24 SAS, SPSS, and Stata setups have been added to this data collection.
