Common Core of Data: Public School Universe Data, 1994-1995 (ICPSR 6911)
This dataset contains records for each public elementary and secondary school in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, United States territories (American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the Marshall Islands), and Department of Defense schools outside the United States for 1994-1995. Data were reported to the Bureau of the Census for the National Center for Education Statistics by the state coordinators. Records in this file provide the name, address, and telephone number of the school/associated agency, codes for school type and locale, number of full-time equivalent classroom teachers (FTE), and students eligible for free lunch programs.

(1) There are some high ASCII accented Spanish characters in the data. (2) Users are encouraged to check the NCES homepage ( http://www.ed.gov/NCES/ccd/) for additional information on this collection. (3) The documentation files are provided as Portable Document Format (PDF) files. The PDF file format was developed by Adobe Systems Incorporated and can be accessed using PDF reader software, such as the Adobe Acrobat Reader. Information on how to obtain a copy of the Acrobat Reader is provided through the ICPSR Website on the Internet.
Extent of Processing: ICPSR data undergo a confidentiality review and are altered when necessary to limit the risk of disclosure. ICPSR also routinely creates ready-to-go data files along with setups in the major statistical software formats as well as standard codebooks to accompany the data. In addition to these procedures, ICPSR performed the following processing steps for this data collection:
- Performed consistency checks.
Original ICPSR Release: 1997-08-15
- 1999-11-02 The SAS data definition statements have been revised to indicate decimal places for some variables and to designate missing values.
