Scope of Study
Summary: This study contains data on conflict events between ethnic, racial, linguistic, and religious minority groups and predominant groups within society in 84 nations in the period 1955-1965. For each event, data are provided for the type of event, number and type of initiator and target of event, nature of minority tension, issues involved, date, location and duration of event, presence of violence, outcome of the event, number of initiators, targets, and mediators injured, arrested, or killed, and number of significant persons involved in the event as initiators, targets, or mediators that were injured, killed, or arrested. A summary scale was developed to measure the different intensity levels of aggressive behavior as well as the degree of friendliness signified by an event in minority tensions.
