This study provides a measurement of shared characteristics between 17 Asian nations in 1969. Data are provided for shared colonial background, racial background, religion, border, and the air distance between the Asian state capitals for the 136 dyads created from all possible pairs of the 17 Asian states. Each variable records the particular shared characteristics of every Asian state with every other Asian state.
