This data collection was designed to ascertain the size of horses in the Habsburg Military. The data supply information on the horses' height, color, age, and date of birth, as well as on archival source of data (register, signature) and provenance.

  1. (1) Variables 'anmerkun' and 'heft' were removed from the dataset and appended to the codebook as separate text files. (2) A unique record identifier ('ID') was created to match dataset cases with appended text files. (3) While missing data codes were standardized for numeric variables 'enliyear', 'regiment', 'karton', and 'age_at_p', missing data for string variables 'gender' and 'marks' remain as blanks.
