Summary View help for Summary
The 1995 Oahu Metropolitan Planning Organization Model Development Project for Oahu Island was intended to document how Oahu residents use the streets, highways, and transit services in the region. Respondents were asked to record their travel and activities for a 24-hour period. They were also asked for detailed information regarding their trips, including mode of transportation, trip purpose, departure and arrival times, and number of passengers. Demographic variables include gender, age, employment status, household size, and household income.

-
In three string variables, B1COMNTY, HMCOMNTY, and W1COMNTY, there are unexpected numeric values. It is unclear whether these are valid entries or an indication of data shifting. No information was provided and ICPSR cannot confirm the accuracy of this data collection.

The documentation refers to many files and datasets that are intended to be included in this collection, though only one dataset was deposited. Based on the provided variables, it appears that the deposited dataset may be a merged version of the files listed in the Original P.I. Documentation, however, ICPSR cannot confirm this.

Sample View help for Sample
The sample included 4,060 Oahu households. Households were recruited for participation by telephone using a random-digit-dial method that includes both listed and unlisted telephone numbers. For additional information regarding sampling, please refer to the Original P.I. Documentation section of the ICPSR codebook.

2014-08-14 ICPSR data undergo a confidentiality review and are altered when necessary to limit the risk of disclosure. ICPSR also routinely creates ready-to-go data files along with setups in the major statistical software formats as well as standard codebooks to accompany the data. In addition to these procedures, ICPSR performed the following processing steps for this data collection:
- Checked for undocumented or out-of-range codes.
Weight View help for Weight
The data are not weighted, however there are three weight variables that should be used in any analysis: HHWT3H (Household Weight), HHWT5H (HH Weight), and HHWT5HPA (Trip Weight). For this study, in general, a household's expansion factor equals the inverse of the probability of its selection, but this depends on both sampling methods and response rates. No additional information was provided.
