This data collection was constructed to ascertain the living standards of the Mexican population during the Porfiriato (1876-1910) and the first four decades of the Post-Revolution period. These data supply information on the individual's age, sex, year of birth, height, place of birth, place of recruitment (into the military), occupation (for passport holders), and occupation prior to recruitment.

The codebook is provided by ICPSR as a Portable Document Format (PDF) file. The PDF file format was developed by Adobe Systems Incorporated and can be accessed using PDF reader software, such as the Adobe Acrobat Reader. Information on how to obtain a copy of the Acrobat Reader is provided on the ICPSR Web site.
Sample: Parts 1-3: Records of deceased soldiers and deserters were sampled. Parts 4-5: All passport records issued by SRE from 1910 to 1935 that contained heights in centimeters were sampled.
