Ethics and Politics: A Data-Driven Learning Guide (ICPSR 344)

Summary:

Data-Driven Learning Guides are a collection of instructional exercises that can be used to enhance teaching of core concepts in the social sciences. This learning guide investigates citizens' perceptions in politics through partisanship. Research questions that can be explored using this learning guide include: how citizens hold elected officials accountable in light of questionable ethics, what role the media plays in shaping public opinion when elected officials' ethics are questioned, how does partisanship shape citizens' perceptions about ethics and politics, what is an objective measure of ethical behavior, and what is the relationship between citizens' evaluations of presidential character and presidential approval ratings. Crosstabulations are used in the analyses.
