Study Description

Scope of Study

Summary:   Data-Driven Learning Guides are a collection of instructional exercises that can be used to enhance teaching of core concepts in the social sciences. This learning guide investigates generational trends in Americans' attitudes about gun ownership and how fear of crime and victimization might be related to attitudes about gun ownership. Research questions that can be explored using this learning guide include: whether attitudes about gun ownership and gun control vary by race, age, gender, income level, and geography, what are some of the reasons people give for owning a firearm, how attitudes about gun ownership may be related to fear of crime, and whether crime victimization affects one's attitudes about gun ownership and gun control. Crosstabulation is used in the analyses.
