Summary: The National Longitudinal Survey of Older Men is one of six surveys, designed by the United States Department of Labor, comprising the National Longitudinal Survey (NLS) Series. The original purpose of the survey was to study employment patterns among men in their 40s and 50s who were on the verge of making decisions about the timing and extent of their withdrawal from the labor force and their plans for retirement.
