DCR-143
SPONSOR(S) [If any]:

Passage of the bill to authorize $268 billion for defense-related
activities in fiscal 1998, $2.6 billion more than President Clinton's
request but $3.3 billion below last year's level in inflation-adjusted
dollars. The bill also expresses the sense of Congress that
U.S. troops should pull out of Bosnia by June 30, 1998, and requires
the Defense Department to study whether additional base closure rounds
are necessary. Passed by a vote of 94 to 4.
