World Tables of Economic and Social Indicators Series

Investigator(s): World Bank

ICPSR has in its holdings World Tables of Economic and Social Indicators data for the period 1950-1992 acquired from the World Bank Economic and Social Data Division. This series gathers information on the economic, social and demographic characteristics of approximately 190 industrialized and developing nations worldwide. For each nation, economic data are provided for external trade, balance of payments and external debts in United States dollars, international reserves, gross national product (GNP), gross domestic product (GDP), expenditures in current and constant local prices, and currency exchange rates. Social and demographic data provide information on population characteristics and other social indicators. The earliest version of this series, World Tables of Economic and Social Indicators, 1950-1981 (ICPSR 8197), is retained in the collection because it may contain variables not provided in the more up-to-date versions, World Tables of Economic and Social Indicators, 1950-1988 (ICPSR 9300), and World Tables of Economic and Social Indicators, 1950-1992 (ICPSR 6159).
