Scope of Study
Geographic Coverage: United States
Date of Collection:
Universe: All persons and housing units in the United States in 1970.
Data Types: census/enumeration data
Data Collection Notes:
The codebook, which comprises National Data Use and Access Laboratories (DUALabs) Technical Document No. GT-1 and Part 1 of the 1970 Census Users' Guide, is provided by ICPSR as a Portable Document Format (PDF) file. The PDF file format was developed by Adobe Systems Incorporated and can be accessed using PDF reader software, such as the Adobe Acrobat Reader. Information on how to obtain a copy of the Acrobat Reader is provided on the ICPSR Web site.
Extent of Processing: ICPSR data undergo a confidentiality review and are altered when necessary to limit the risk of disclosure. ICPSR also routinely creates ready-to-go data files along with setups in the major statistical software formats as well as standard codebooks to accompany the data. In addition to these procedures, ICPSR performed the following processing steps for this data collection:
- Created variable labels and/or value labels.
Original ICPSR Release: 1984-06-28
- 2009-06-19 SAS, SPSS, and Stata setups have been added to this data collection.
- 2001-05-09 Blank records at the end of the data file have been removed, and the codebook is now available as a PDF file.
