Summary: This poll, conducted January 30, 2003-February 1, 2003, is part of a series of monthly surveys that solicit public opinion on the presidency and on a range of other political and social issues. Respondents were asked to give their opinions on President George W. Bush's performance in relation to the economy, the war against terrorism, Saddam Hussein and Iraq, the budget, taxes, Medicare, and prescription drug benefits for the elderly. Respondents were also asked to give their opinions on the priorities and effectiveness of Congress, the justification and support for military action against Iraq and its leader Saddam Hussein, the possible economic and human costs of pursuing military action in Iraq, the current condition of Medicare, and the long-term effects of President Bush's proposed tax cuts. Background information on respondents includes age, sex, political orientation, education, ethnicity, and household income.
