State and Metropolitan Area Data Book [United States] Series

The State and Metropolitan Area Data Book [United States] series was developed by the United States Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census with data gathered from various governmental and private agencies. The series is composed of a compendia of data that provide basic statistical demographic, economic, and governmental information to enable multi-area comparisons as well as single-area profiles. The 1982 collection is composed of two files: a State File and a Metropolitan Area File, both of which contain statistics gathered from approximately 70 government and private agencies. The 1991 data collection is available for five types of geographic coverage: Metro Areas, State Metro/Nonmetro Areas, Metro Counties, Metro Central Cities, and States.
