opinions about fur. Respondents were asked whether women dress to
please themselves or others, if they personally owned fur clothing
items or would like to own furs, if they were no longer wearing fur
garments and why, if it irritated them to see someone wearing fur
since animals had been killed to make it, and if there are
circumstances when it is all right to kill an animal for its fur.
Additionally, respondents were asked if they had heard anything about
protests made by animal rights groups against killing animals to make
fur coats, if they had felt social pressure not to wear fur, if they
were concerned about animal rights groups confronting them when
wearing fur, if they had ever been confronted by an animal rights
group, and if anyone had ever sprayed their fur garments with paint
in protest. Background information on respondents includes year of
birth.</div>
