ICPSR staff has been negotiating with the IMF staff to resume and continue the subscription for another year. We apologize for the resulting delays and inconveniences to our user community. (2) Data in Part 1 are stored in packed zoned decimal format. A supplemental COBOL processing program is available for use with this dataset. (3) Each time series in Part 1 can contain a variable number of logical records. The exact number of records in any time series in this collection is dependent upon the availability of annual, quarterly, and monthly data for trading partners. Approximately 61,000 time series are included in this collection. (4) The term "country," as used in this dataset, does not in all cases refer to a territorial entity that is a state as understood by international law and practice. The term also covers some territorial entities that are not states but for which statistical data are maintained and provided internationally on a separate and independent basis. (5) All exports are valued "free on board" (f.o.b.) and all imports "cost, insurance, and freight" (c.i.f.). (6) Data are expressed in millions of United States dollars. (7) The codebook for Part 1 also documents the following IMF studies: INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL STATISTICS (ICPSR 7629), BALANCE OF PAYMENTS STATISTICS (ICPSR 8623), and GOVERNMENT FINANCE STATISTICS (ICPSR 8624). (8) The codebook is provided by ICPSR as a Portable Document Format (PDF) file. The PDF file format was developed by Adobe Systems Incorporated and can be accessed using PDF reader software, such as the Adobe Acrobat Reader. Information on how to obtain a copy of the Acrobat Reader is provided on the ICPSR Web site. Violations

If ICPSR determines that the terms of this agreement have been violated, ICPSR will act according to our policy on terms of use violations . Sanctions can include:

ICPSR may revoke the existing agreement, demand the return of the data in question, and deny all future access to ICPSR data.

The violation may be reported to the Research Integrity Officer, Institutional Review Board, or Human Subjects Review Committee of the user's institution. A range of sanctions are available to institutions including revocation of tenure and termination.

If the confidentiality of human subjects has been violated, the case may be reported to the Federal Office for Human Research Protections. This may result in an investigation of the user's institution, which can result in institution-wide sanctions including the suspension of all research grants.

A court may award the payment of damages to any individual(s)/organization(s) harmed by the breach of the agreement.
