Master Area Reference Files (MARFs) are the 1980 Census
counterpart of the Master Enumeration District List (MEDList) prepared
for the 1970 Census. They link geographic areas with their respective
numeric codes. This data collection is a school district equivalency
file created for the 1980 Census of Population and Housing. The data
contain geographic items from Summary Tape Files 1B (STF 1B), as well
as total population and housing unit counts. This national file is
hierarchically sequenced by geographic area.
