Reciprocal Relations Between Population and Environment (ICPSR 34559)
Principal Investigator(s): Axinn, William G., University of Michigan. Population Studies Center
Summary: Taking advantage of ongoing research on family formation in the Nepalese Himalayas, this project investigated the reciprocal relations between changes in population processes (family formation and migration) and the environment (land use, soil quality, water quality, and flora). The goal of this project was to gather additional data on environmental quality and population processes, and link it to data on neighborhood contexts and family formation from the Chitwan Valley Family Study for the pur... Scope of Study
Summary: Taking advantage of ongoing research on family formation in the Nepalese Himalayas, this project investigated the reciprocal relations between changes in population processes (family formation and migration) and the environment (land use, soil quality, water quality, and flora). The goal of this project was to gather additional data on environmental quality and population processes, and link it to data on neighborhood contexts and family formation from the Chitwan Valley Family Study for the purpose of analyzing reciprocal links between population processes and environmental changes.
