Training Resources

CPES Workshop

CPES investigators regularly hold instructional classes to expand use of these data. These training programs educate researchers about the background and goals of the three studies comprising CPES, the complexities of the instrumentation and datasets, the diagnostic algorithms and other constructed variables, the sample design and weights, appropriate techniques for the analysis of complex sample survey data, and concrete examples of analytic strategies.

Classes were held in connection with the ICPSR Summer Program over the last few years including in 2009.

Users can also access training videos from the 2008 CPES Workshop. These videos include sessions with CPES principal investigators, researchers, and expert technical staff:

CIDI Program

In addition and as part of the WHO Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI 3.0) training program, Ronald Kessler, Professor of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School and Chair of the CIDI Advisory Committee, provided the background and history of the development of the CIDI, the instrument that was used to collect the diagnostic data in the CPES. You may view a 22-minute video of his presentation.
