Summary: | ELSEGIS, the predecessor of CCD, collects and publishes
extensive information on education agencies in the United States and includes
general descriptions of public and private schools and public school districts,
data on students and staff, and fiscal data including revenues and current
expenditures. This series followed the publication of the Directory of Public
School Systems in the 1960's.
Public School Universe
This component provides information on all public elementary
and secondary schools in operation during a school year including name, address,
county, district of the school, programs and courses offered, and the number of
pupils and teachers.
Public School District Universe
This component provides information for the universe of Local
Education Agencies (LEAs) including name, address, county, district, grade span
of school, size of system, number of schools in the system, and SMSA (Standard
Metropolitan Statistical Area) designation.
Pupils and Staff
This component provides information on students and staff at
the school district level including the number of students by grade level, and
full-time equivalent staff by major employment category.
Finance
This component provides detailed financial data at the school
district level including school district revenue by source, expenditure by
function and subfunction, debt, cash and investment, average daily attendance,
tuition, expulsions, special education requirements, enrollment figures, as well
as information about staff and students.
Non-Public Elementary/Secondary School Surveys
This component contains information for each non-public
(private) elementary and secondary school in the country including name and
address, religious affiliation, enrollment by grade, graduates and staff,
tuition, other income, expenditures, curriculum, and federal
programs.
