PreK-3rd Offers Free Summer Workshop on Child Outcomes and Well-Being

"Longitudinal Explorations of Child Outcomes and Well-Being" will be offered at no charge by the PreK-3rd Data Resource Center through ICPSR's Summer Program in Quantitative Methods in Ann Arbor, Michigan, June 22–24, 2009.

Sponsored by the PreK-3rd Data Resource Center, with support from the Foundation for Child Development, the workshop is an introduction to longitudinal datasets that can be used to analyze the development and educational achievement of children from their Prekindergarten to early elementary school grades. Special attention will be paid to the school, family, and other contexts that shape children's potential to succeed in school and in life.

The datasets are:

  • Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Kindergarten Class of 1998–1999
  • National Longitudinal Survey of Youth, 1979: Child Surveys
  • Panel Study of Income Dynamics, Child Development Supplement

Applications are competitive. A limited number of stipends will be awarded. The target audience is graduate students, post-doctoral scholars, junior faculty/researchers and other researchers who are interested in using the featured secondary data for the analysis of child outcomes and well-being. Participants from all disciplines are encouraged to apply. All applications must include a curriculum vita and cover letter indicating their interest in the workshop and summarizing research interests and experiences.
