MyData: Login/Account Info | Download Saved Files | Logout State Library Agencies (STLA) SurveySTLA data are collected from state library agencies in the 50 states and the District of Columbia. Data are available for state fiscal year 1994. A state library agency is the official agency of a State charged by the law of that State with the extension and development of public library services throughout the State. The data collected are the product of a cooperative effort between the Chief Officers of State Library Agencies (COSLA), the U.S. National Commission on Libraries and Information Science (NCLIS), and National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). The STLA Survey provides state and federal policymakers, researchers, and other interested users with descriptive information about STLAs in the 50 states and DC and complements NCES data collected regularly on public, academic, and school libraries; data collected occasionally on library systems, networks, and information centers; and the Survey of Federal Libraries and Information Centers. The data, when added to other data on libraries collected by NCES, will help complete the national picture of public library service. |
