Summary: This survey of state legislators updates and expands the 1995 Carey, Niemi, and Powell survey, STATE LEGISLATIVE SURVEY AND CONTEXTUAL DATA, 1995: [UNITED STATES] (ICPSR 3021), which asked many of the same questions. Questionnaires were mailed to all 7,430 state legislators (50 states, 99 chambers) in February 2002, with follow-up letters in March and May of the same year.
